1. Waiver Wire
WAIVING PLAYERS IN THE OFFSEASON:
- Any player waived or amnestied in the offseason will be immediately placed into Unrestricted Free Agency (UFA).
- If you waive a NG player, his contract is off of your books, but if you waive a guaranteed player, you will be liable for 50% of that contract for all the guaranteed years that it's on the books. This amount is paid “upfront” and is immediately calculated in the manager’s salary cap for that year.
WAIVING PLAYERS DURING THE SEASON:
- Any player waived during the season will be available to be claimed for 24 hours.
- During the 24-hour period any team with an open roster space and available cap space can put a claim and acquire the player, inheriting the salary he had with his previous team
- If multiple teams place a claim, the team with the worst record the previous year will be awarded that player. For the first year only, the order of the bidding teams will be determined by the following sitefftoolbox.scout.com/draft_order_generator.cfm (It sends an email with the results to all GMs in order to establish a transparent process).
- (Starting next year) If teams with the same record place a claim, the team who has scored less fantasy points will get the player.
- The team that acquires the player will move back in the waiver order.
- Any player not claimed in the 24-hour window becomes an UFA and can be signed for the minimum of $0.5mil.
- If you waive a NG player, his contract is off your books, but if you waive a guaranteed player, you will be liable for 50% of that contract, unless the player is claimed in the first 24 hrs. If that happens, the new GM pays the salary and the original GM has no financial responsibility whatsoever.
- When you waive a player, you can decide if you want to pay the 50% penalty all at once upfront during the current year (if you have the cap space) or stretch it over the guaranteed remaining years of his contract. A deadline is set as to until when teams will be able to drop a player with a multi-year contract. After the trade deadline, which is set to 10 days after the real NBA deadline (e.g. February 17th for this year), if a team waives a multi-year deal, they won’t be allowed to pay all the remaining salary this year but they will have to split in to the remaining years of the contract (that applies to all teams, playoff and non-playoff).
- Eliminated teams from the playoffs will not be allowed to make any moves (during the playoffs) and until the offseason begins. That includes signing, dropping or claiming any player.
Playoff teams on the other hand will be able to do so during the playoffs and as long as their team is not eliminated. That includes signing, dropping or claiming players that have been dropped during playoff weeks.
2. Amnesty
If you would like to amnesty a player, just post the name of the player in the Amnesty thread and note that you are using your yearly amnesty. If you fail to post that in the amnesty thread, you will be liable for 50% of that contract. You will get the chance to exercise amnesty every year, so use it wisely. When you use your amnesty, you cannot place a bid on or sign (via trade or other) the player you amnestied for the rest of the season.
The following amendement has been voted by the majority of the league and will take place starting in the 2020 offseason:
The right to Amnesty a player will not be allowed for players acquired with a cap discount (25%-75%). Furthermore, it will become biannual for the remaining players meaning that managers will be able to use this right once every two years.
