Hi everyone,
the final process of the league's 1st offseason is coming up. This is the much anticipated UFA bidding process. The committee is currently designing the process, however we would like to receive the league's feedback regarding the start date of the UFA process. Here are the available options, as we stand right now:
Option A - Start Date July 28th. We commence the process on Friday July 28th, we go on a break from August 5th until August 20th, we restart the process on August 21st and we go all the way until the end of the NBA preseason (October 13th).
Option B - Start Date August 21st. We commence the process on August 21st and we go all the way until the end of the NBA preseason (October 13th).
While designing the process, the committee feels that a break from August 5th until August 20th is the best way to go. The reason is simple: there needs to be a complete and continuous commitment from all 5 committee members to ensure a smooth UFA bidding and decision making process (there is a total of 260 UFAs and the number is growing). This is something that cannot be achieved when 3 or 4 members of the committee are on vacation... I hope this is understandable without further discussion.
If, on the other hand, managers insist on avoiding the proposed August break, we are open to receive applications from managers that would like to assume an active committee role during that period. As things stand, we need 4 replacement committee members for the period August 5th - August 20th.
The above poll will run until tomorrow midnight. Regarding the poll question and a collective decision, we will require a minimum of 15 managers to vote (75% of the league). If we do not get to the 75% threshold, the committee will make the final decision on its own.
Thank you!

While I totally respect your analysis on how a break is needed I would appreciate an explanation as to why 16 days are needed and the reasonable number of 7-10 days is not appropriate. Is it maybe because the committe members are applying this number based on their vacation dates??I would be totally fine for a long break if the reasons put on table were "work related" but the fact that you claim "vacation time" is comical the least; if you can't check your smartphone while in vacation more than when you are at the office then you are either lying or you really are not born to play fantasy sports. It's 2017 and we should really adapt to the plethora of technology options we have instead of letting witches from the Middle Ages drag us back to the Stone Age. To make things even more simple for you I can have Lebron the assistant GM run the entire UFA period ALONE if you really think it's that hard and 5 members need to supervise the process. We just need to clarify a few items and the whole process will run on auto-pilot plus there is no chance of collusion whatsoever as the entire bidding is public. I therefore urge the committe to stop listening to arbitrary solutions provided by one person (based on his primitive thinking) and let the league decide as to if AND HOW LONG there should be a pause.

Well said LeBron, however (and talking just for myself) I will be abroad for 5 days and spend another 7 to 10 days in a place where there is bad to limited to none internet connection (I have tested it again and again). And yes, I am talking about vacation time. Very much needed vacation time, after months of consecutive 18-hour workdays. There is no way I am putting myself through a process of checking and policing a salary cap league while on vacation and having to deal with limited to no internet access issues. I hope you get it...
PS: when it comes to vacation time, it would be nice to respect the people who need it (or feel they need it) without imposing fantasy-related responsibilities on them. As noted in my initial post, the committee is open to accept replacement applications for the so proposed "break".

Yes, it is clearly because the committe members are applying this number based on their vacation dates.
We know we can check the league constantly, we just dont want to do it. Notice that nobody is getting paid for this thing so it starts to really piss me off that we have to think of adjusting our schedule also taking into account fantasy; we have enough trouble on our mind already.
The 2 available options are up for vote.

Just because you cannot handle multitasking that doesn't mean nobody else can, it takes a lot of courage to admit that you are not good at something and step on the side for the professionals to do it. See, dear Miami, I'm not good at math and I never claim to be good at it, I just let a math expert do the calculations when it's time. And what's exactly the factual base for the "chaos" claims you make? You should be ashamed for yourself as you have been part of many fantasy basketball leagues that I have been commissioning for years let alone the fact that I opened to you the door of fantasy sports you ungrateful clown. So the question comes down to, are you willing to give me the opportunity to fail and prove you right or are you gonna once again hide behind the closet and abruptly decide that someone is incapable of doing what you seem "hard" or "impossible"??

That's exactly the issue here, if your wifi is weak that is YOUR problem not the league's problem cause if we walk down the road of "hey I'm gonna have limited connectivity for 3,5,10 days" we won't be able to agree just like we don't agree about draft time/dates. The point is that there was never a projection for a league shutdown and while I respect your vacation claims, the issue so far is not about needing vacation but how limited connectivity or "I don't want to check the league as often" affect the UFA process.
