In the committee’s effort to identify potential loopholes and items that might create mayhem in our league we have identified a need to make an adjustment on the amnesty rule which enables managers to release a player with no further financial commitment for the remaining years of his salary. I want to be as clear as possible, we want to avoid managers trading for a superstar for pennies on the dollar and becoming contenders while also being able to bail themselves out of a heavy contract by exercising the amnesty rule every offseason. Our intention is for the amnesty to operate as a way of fixing potential miscalculations by managers, when handing out contracts, and not as a loophole that will make the rich richer.
Let me just make it clear that any amendement to the amnesty rule will take place the year after the next summer (2020 offseason) and all managers will be able to execute this right in the 2019 offseason.
This is a mandatory vote for all members and the results will show up once all 20 managers have submitted their vote. Feel free to discuss more in this thread, all opinions shall be heard.
