With Dame on his way to Brooklyn to play with Maxi Kleber, R.I.P. City needs a new leader and who better to do that other than the Beard?
Portland trades: No. 4 rookie pick and Zach Collins Houston trades: James Harden
The rookie hype is once again reaching phenomenal levels the way Lonzo Ball had last year. Sorry guys but unless you are able to get Luka Doncic no other rookie is helping your team the way a player like Harden does so that was a no brainer for me. As for money? Who cares about money when you have the Beard??
In NBA fantasyland, over the past five years, only one season saw more than two rookies who were worth owning the entire season. Their failure rate is much higher than for experienced players. If six owners draft rookies, you probably start with an advantage over five of them.
The Joe Alexanders (#8 overall in 2008), the Hasheem Thabeets (#2 overall in 2009), the Robert 'Tractor' Traylors aka the next Charles Barkley (#6 overall in 1998), the Adam Morrisons (#3 overall in 2006), the Kwame Browns (#1 overall in 2001) or the Anthony Bennets (#1 overall in 2013) and on and on are knocking on your door!

This is a door knock that I happily answer and accept.
While Portland provides quite a compelling argument, and one that I do agree with, there are multiple ways to build a DYNASTY! This is a DYNASTY league after-all, isn't it?
In a vacuum, this is a surface level ugly trade, it is... I agree (save your knee jerk reactions until the end, please).
This is what just happened in the eyes of the Houston Rockets front office....
After numerous discussions, late nights, 2 black eyes, 1 broken nose, 5 thrown chairs, countless slammed doors and "Corporate Bullying", we concluded that a freshly shaved BEARD was the way we wanted to present our franchise moving forward.
We have secured 2 top 10 picks in this years draft, and by moving a player of James Harden's stature and ability, we have also by consequence chosen a path and secured another top 3 pick next year in our own pick.
We have also opened up an immediate 30 million in cap space that we can then utilize on what we have determined to be the best UFA class this league will likely EVER see.... EVER! Look at the names yourself. None have Harden's statistical prowess, we admit, but is Harden and Aldridge really a team that will compete for a title?? We honestly answered, "NO".
So, we chose flexibility, and the "long game", and will allow the other 19 teams to scrap it out for a chance at title #1, we will take a committed approach in building a true DYNASTY.
We wish the Blazers organization the best of luck moving forward, and also want to take this time to remind teams like TimberWolves, Lakers, and other teams to save some $ for their upcoming RFAs... The Blazers are plotting, planning, and watching....
